Meeting Your Wedding Photographer
It's so easy to Google everything you need for your wedding. The Knot and Wedding Wire have lists of vendors you could go through for days! You can find a caterer with a click of a button. You can even buy your shoes and dress online! But what does online shopping have to do with meeting your wedding photographer? Whether you simply love their work or they have a special discount that’s too hard to resist, it is so important to give them a call and chat FIRST. The last thing I want for any couple is to book a photographer without ever talking to them in person or, at minimum, on Skype.
But Katie, I’m so busy, why add another meeting on top of it?
Because your photographer will be there every step of the way. That person will be taking photos from the time you start getting ready all the way to your confetti-filled send off. That is why it’s so so important that you truly get along with your photographer. Honestly, they will be the person you’ll see on your wedding day more than many of your closest friends and family. You’ll also probably keep in touch with this vendor the most because you’ll receive your photos long after the wedding is over. Other vendors really are only there for a few hours – the cake gets dropped off, the caterer is there for the dinner portion, the DJ is there for the reception. I’m not implying you need to become BFFs with your photographer, although it would always help ;) It may be as simple as similar personalities, the same core values or a mutual love for bad puns. If you get along with your photographer, you’re going to be more relaxed with they’re there. You’re also probably going to feel more confident when you’re in front of the camera as well.
If you feel comfortable and confident, all you’ll need to do is celebrate your big day! So reach out, grab coffee or a glass of wine and get to know your wedding photographer today!
